In a 1971 larson 19 ft tri hull what would I need to replace the penta with a 3
50 gm engine. I also need the specifics on transferring the touque to the water.
I am a good mechanic but have no real experience with boating application.

So, putting a 350 in the boat would require.....

I've replace a few boat engines. compared to changing an engine in a car, boats are a piece of cake!
what size engine is in the boat now? If it's smaller then an 8 cyl. chev. 350, you have to do a lot! From beefing up the eng. compartment where the engine mounts, changing bell housings, changing flywheels (same as an car flywheel for a clutch), change exhaust y pipes, the list goes on.
I'm not too fimiliar with Volvo Penta, but I do know that Mercruiser has torque and gear ratio specs for the different engines. Your going to want to do some research into what a 350 uses for gear ratio and prop size and pitch.
