Need speed

[hydra-sport]

I have a 1989 hydra-sport with a 200 Gt Evinrude. I had the shooter 26 picth prop with a jack plate and hot shoe. This boat will not plane like it should and I can only get 43 mph out of her. My tack does not work. I was told my rectifier was bad... Would this hurt my speed in any way? I have tried the jack plate all the way down and all the up... can you help.

Welcome!<br /><br />Let get the rectifier fixed so we can establih a baseline.<br /><br />While the rectifier probably doesnt hurt your top speed, the wiring could possibly catch on fire.

Also, get your tach fixed. You can't tell if the prop is right unless you know your rpm's.

If the rectifier is bad, thats most likely the reason the tach doesnt work.
