Finally got around to install my new ignition switch thanks to Jays Discount who had one in stock.
Got everything hooked back up and ran into a new problem.
Now when I try to crank the motor which is an older model Johnson 90hp, it acts like the battery is dead.
I know that cant be true because I had just charged it. I even tried Jumpercables.
Still with no success. If anyone has any idea it sure would be appreciated.

Thanks, Markus

Re: need starting help.........

If the starter attempts to turn the engine then the ignition switch installation is correct. How old is the battery? If it has a bad cell(s) it won't hold a charge and therefore won't start the engine. And in some cases, you can't jump a battery with dead cells. So, first of all make sure you have a known good battery. Then remove, clean and reinstall the battery cables -- both ends. Check the terminals for corrosion where the cable enters the terminal end. Using a voltmeter at the positive terminal on the starter, crank the engine and read the voltage. If its not 10.5 volts or higher, you either have a bad battery, bad cables, or bad solenoid.
