Need tach hookup advice

I have a 1986 90HP Johnson with power tilt and trim, it is supposed to have rectifier/regulator #0395391, but instead I noticed it has a round 3 wire style, I want to hookup a tach but because of the rectifier being different I am not sure how to do it as now there is no grey wire attached to the terminal strip on side of engine. Anybody have any ideas if/how it can be done?

Connect it to either one of the yellow wires coming from the stator. They also go to the rectifier.

THANKS, I will try it. I had also considered buying the correct rectifier and putting it on to try and get everything back to original.

I got it hooked up and it is working, on the back of the tach is a rotary switch for pulses, does anyone know offhand what it should be set to?
