Hey everbody, Ive got a 16ft. WeldBilt 100gauge alum. boat. with a 50hp.merc. long shaft motor. with a 10.5p on it. What would be the best for my set up. The motor was on a pontoon boat.

Re: need the right prop.

Need a little more info.approximate weight and style of the boat.year of the motor.Without your present max rpm and speed near impossible to tell what you need. You shouldn't make any changes without a tach to confirm the rpm.
A tinytach is reasonable and easy to install. If the 105 was worked right on the pontoon it surely is wrong for your setup. My guess is you will be in the 14" range. Without a tach you won't know if you are overpropped or under propped with the 14.Overpropped you will lug the motor and shouldn't run it like that underpropped you will overrev you could runit if you stayed below
the max rpm.Without the tach you see the problem.Without the speed there's no way of knowing if the setup is right.

Thanks for the info. This is a great forum, tons of info to be absorbed. I'll install a tach. for starters.

Another thought is where is the anti ventilation plate when you are running. It should be at the surface of the water. I mention this because a 'toon frequently has a long shaft motor and will be too deep in the water for a more normal boat. The anti ventilation plate is the flat plate just above the prop on the lower end of the engine.

Haven't launched her yet, still working on the steering system, needs a console, steering wheel, and cable. The boat has the tall transom, for long shaft motor which it is. Thanks for info.
