Hi everybody,

I'm new here and want to offer up a huge THANK YOU! I did a lot of reading here to rebuild the lower end on this outboard and fix the impeller. Great site!

My motor is a remote steer and i want to convert to tiller to free up some room for fishing from the boat- a 14ft aluminum mirro craft. I need the tiller assembly. Any advice or resources to check is appreciated. Also what year/ hp range will work with my 1971 40hp Johnson motor? (i.e. will a tiller from a 1982 25hp johnson fit my 71 40hp?)

Thanks a lot,

Scott

try Budget Boats in Chesapeake, Virginia. They have a pile of them and can be trusted.

Can't speak to what would fit. I assume your motor was designed for a tiller and you just need to replace the arm?

I would be concerned, too, about your rig. By going from tiller to remote you can safely increase horsepower.
