Hi, I´ve got a Johnson 20 hp outboard from about 90-92. This motor is a little too weak for my needs so I have in minds to tune it up. I´ve heard that this motor is almost the same as the 30 hp Johnson from that year. Then, what should I change to make my 20 hp to an 30 hp ??
Only the carburettor ?? Or can I fix it by my self.. ?? I really need those extra 10 hp so please give me all the tips you have !!

Thanks !! /Sebbe from Sweden

Welcome to the board. You may not like this answer but.....The sure fire way of making a 20 hp to a 30 hp is to sell the 20 and purchase a 30.

Motor companies do differant carbs, exhaust, ports, compression, stroke....it can be complicated. If you change your carbs you might end up with a gas guzzling poor running 20.

So if you need the 30hp shop around. Now is the season to sell a good 20.

Bob
