i had to fix the flywheel on an 85 2.5 ltr seadrive by filling in some of the pre drilled balance holes with epoxy and then installing a magnet repair kit. Can any shop balance the flywheel? Is it necessary? thanks for any info that you can give.

Steve

Yes, it's probably way out of ballance now, and you are smart to be getting it rebalanced. It all depends on what resources you have in your area, but a machine shop, prop shop, auto brake shop could prbably do this for you.
It will run fine for quite some time without a ballanced flywheel, but after 100hours or so, you will need new upper crank seals and/or bearings.
