Need to build set of bed dog stairs.

Hello does anyone know how to build or go about building a set of homemade dog stairs so the small dog I have can get into bed? Let me know Bob

Lowes and HD have precut stair templates you can either use or trace on to different wood while at the store. From there it is simply a matter of deciding on a width. Since it is a small dog, you may wish to go a more 'cute' route and make the stair tiny-dog sized. Just take the measurements of the HD template and divide them by 2.

Begin with a 'how to make stairs' google search and also youtube. You can read how to make anything on the net. I'm just finishing up a screen porch extension of my house, and I have never even done construction before..

From time to time I have seen dog stairs at PetSmart and on eBay. They are made of OSB and covered in carpet. They are really easy to build if you have some tools, a skill saw, hammer, drill etc. Draw the stair pattern out on the wood, cut it out, cut and install the treads and risers and carpet it. Couple of hours work, tops.

Personally I like the ramp with carpet idea, It'd be stupid easy to build.

I used to keep an upolstered chair next to my bed when I had a smaller dog. he figured out real quick. Hop on the chair then turn and hop on the bed.

I like the ramp idea. You can store it under the bed if you want.

My friend's weiner dog needed something like that because of his back. That dog was going to jump up there one way or another, but with the ramp he wouldn't injure himself.
