I need to change jets on my 1991 90 horse Johnson. Wondering if anybody could walk me through it. First I need to check and see if they are the factory stock sea level jets and if so I need to put a degree or two leaner jet in for our elevation here. 3,000 to 5000 feet. Thanks.

Re: Need to change carb jets.

You have a situation where the sea level jets are ok at 3000 feet, but not at 5000. It depends on where the engine will spend most of its time as to whether a change is necessary or not. Check with a local dealer to see what jets they normally run. Install what they recommend. If you don't have a service manual specific to your engine you need one. Visit your local library -- they often have them. While they may not have the exact manual for your engine they would likely have one that is close enough that you will be able to work on the carb. A word of caution -- go too lean and you will destroy the engine..

Yep I know all of that. I know which jets to put in, sea level jets dont work to 3000 feet they are fine to about 1000 and I will never be that low. I just needed a little walk through outside of the manual that I have. J
