Need to identify a Johnson motor

Hi,
I have a Johnson motor I need to identify. This motor was produced, I think, in the late 50's or early 60's. The motor starts easily and runs like a champ. The power head has apparently been changed so we have two sets of serial numbers to work with.

First the transom bracket has the following numbers on the plate;

Model; 40RL69R
Serial Number; J3022303

Second the Welch plug on the block has this number; J2628737

Thanks for the help.

The chassis (clamps) are 1969 model year. The block is earlier, maybe '64-'66 or so.

You would need the model number off the plug to be sure what you have.

Chinewalker,
Thanks. I am converting this thing from tiller control to remote and have the new steering and cables hooked up. I need to get the link and synch worked out on this thing. My Grandkids are driving me nuts to take them fishing. So if I seem somewhat impatient and stupid please be patient with me.

Lion Hunter,
The only number on the Welch plug is the serial number. Is there possibly another plug on this thing? I don't remember ever seeing a power head with two on it.
Thanks Shriker
