None of my sources recognise that model number, Custom, for a Johnson or Evinrude.

A pre 1970 Johnson Sea Horse will have a model number that starts with two letters, like TD or TN for example. After that the model numbers start Jnn (the nn is numbers)

Have another look.

Ah, the venerable TD-20!
5hp made between '46 and '49 and pretty well indestructible. :)
Your S/N indicates it was built in '46. Fuel/Oil mix is 24:1 (use 87 octane gas and TC-W3 rated outboard oil). Ignition system is pretty reliable and different from later 5.5hp outboards. Also, the water pump is very different from a regular outboard.
WOT RPMS = 4000
Displacement = 8.84 cubic inches
Weight = 44lbs
Spark plug = Champion J6C (J6J is no longer available)
List price = $154
Brochure, click here.

Need anything specific?
