I had the big spring that is on the bottom side hook from motor mount to motor bust on me.. I don't know what this part is called or even how hard it is to fix or what it is for.. I know that the spring works whenever I put my motor down and makes it easier to lift my motor back into place. This is on my 1966 merc 950... any clues??

It's a tilt assist spring and NLA so you need to find a donor engine, I think if you check in a parts manual it pretty universal in 4 and 6 cyl engines built in that time frame

NAPA has a lot of generic springs, take the old pieces and go see how lucky you are.
