Well, i guess i should have explained it further. For one thing, the mercury dealer that i go to has asked me for the year after i gave them the model and serial numbers. Also, i would like to know which repair book that i would need since their is 2 different books which cover several different years. Another reason would be that if i ever wanted to sell my boat, i would like to be able to tell the buyer what year the motor is.
why do you need to know the year? any merc dealer needs to know the serial # to look up parts. the year don't mean a thing for finding parts.
