hi there. I'm looking for a way to raise my transom 2 to 3 inches and clamp a 20hp motor to the raised piece . motor will need to be clamped and looking for a suttle mount that doesn't go much wider than the motor mount.

jack plate likely won't work for me so if I can raise the transom up a couple inches without one that would be great. Looking for ideas and examples please on how to build it up. Maybe some square tube ontop the transom and sandwich with aluminum plate either side and bolt to transom and through the tube? Not sure what thickness I would need.

thanks

Here is one I did with a 5 inch lift. >080 aluminum is sufficient for a 20 HP engine and you won't need the side braces like I have.

Although I show a piece of wood inside the aluminum, I actually filled it with fiberglass--get this--resin and home insulation because insulation is WAY cheaper than glass filler or cloth. A little more difficult to wet out though.

Gee, That begs the question...why?

Is the transom shorter than 15"? I have had motors to 50HP on 15" transoms.
