I have a bayhawk center console that needs to be repainted. Im not really sure what to use. Right now it has some sort of flat white paint with a darker paint drizzles for design or maybe anti skid function. Well I had a big piece of it peel up exposing the glass. I repair that, but I want to recoat the entire flat surface of the boat. Im leaning towards LineX, but if there is something better, im open to suggestions.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of answers and mine may be the most work but Interlux two part polyurethane is hard to beat.

Personally I would not use LineX, but that is just me. Any quality catalyzed paint would work. But you have to sand the existing surface and make sure to use compatible primer and top coats. There are ways to get the spider web or spotted effect is you want to match what was already there too.

Why not LineX?

I've seen things coated in LineX type coatings and they look very bad in very little time. And if you happen to get any water in behind that coating, it will stay there and rot anything capable of rotting. And it will peel off if not probably adhered to the surface as well. But that is just my feelings. This is your boat and your project and you certainly can use whatever you like. If you've seen LineX used and like it, then go for it by all means. Certainly don't use it because of my likes and dislikes... This is your project! I'm just stating my opinion.

I like Line X. 20 years in the automotive business, I've seen it on almost everything and in many colors. My only problem with it is that it is very non skid to the point of ripping off flesh if you fall and rub against it. Not very friendly on boats.
