Need to replace ball joint assembly, help with part.

hello everyone,

the small plastic ball joint assembly broke in my 1989 omc.
this is the parts diagram and the part I'm taking about is #3 on the diagram, part number 0379926.

now it seems the part is "obsolete." does this mean that there is a better part out there I should use? or should I just buy the obsolete plastic bit

Obsolete usually means no longer available. You will probably have to find someone who makes a replacement part, or find something that will work in its place.
