I'll try to make a short story long.
I live in NC. A few months ago I bought a 19' Chaparral on a "homemade" galvanized trailer from a seller in NY. While not actually homemade, it's a rebuilt EZ Loader. By rebuilt I mean new winch, brake coupler, rollers, LED lights, tires and rims, etc. It is NY registered as "homemade"
I've titled and registered the boat with no problems. The trailer is my problem.
In NC trailers are titled and registered. It appears as per seller and NY DMV website that trailers <1000# are registered "transferable" only..
I have in my possesion the NY registration signed over by the seller. I have to fill out a DMV title request form but can't find the s/n on the trailer. Can some tell me which set of #'s on the registration are the actual s/n's?
The reg reads:
LTR
AL93528
2004 HOMEMAD TRANSFERABLE
LTRL GY NYA518867
1500 VTD4029 DEC 05 2005
I know AL93528 is the plate #...he's allowed me to use it until I have things sorted out down here. So, is the s/n the NYA# or the VTD #?
I assume it's the NYA# but you know what happens when you assume....especially when DMV is involved
