I recently purchased a 1989 Century Meredian 27.5' with a Volvo Penta 5.7 350 V8 and Duoprop outdrive. I want to replace all the gauges when I repower the boat this spring but I am having trouble finding the outdrive trim gauge. The old one didnt work at all and looks weathered, so I rather just replace it. Can anyone tell me where I can find this part? I've had trouble finding it online anywhere.

Howdy,

It's a standard gage, available at West Marine and many other marine supply stores.

I'm using a Teleflex trim gage on my Mercruiser. Any of them will work.

regards,

Rick

Don't bet on that Rick, Volvo used gauges that had the electronics for trim and tilt limit built into the gauge.

To the original poster, can you post a picture of your trim gauge so we can see what kind you have now?

My current boat uses VP's and has Faria gauges. Not sure if that helps or not. Good luck!

Doesn't really help, the 2000 models like yours are completely different from the systems used in the 89 model the original poster has. Different drive, different transom shield, different senders and wiring, and trim gauge.

Yeah Don, I think you're right. I thought I may had mis-spoke and I did a little searching around. evidently some......... newer Volvos made it much more complicated......

Volvo got out of control with trim and tilt gauges, systems. The weird thing is, they explain none of it in any manual. There are black boxes with no explanations of how they work, a single wiring diagram includes almost all possibilities of wiring. Makes for fun troubleshooting.

Try Marineengine.com I got an exact replacement gauge for my 95 OMC. They said they had 23 of them. They have had several hard to find parts.

Thanks Don and everyone else for your input but I dont have a picture of the trim gauge but next time a head over to storage, I'll grab a pic. Its actually hard to explain and I cant find a picture, or link anywhere online. I have seen them on alot of other older volvos but it looks like a reg. tilt gauge except their are little led lights in different positions instead of an actual needle.
