Hello everybody,<br />I would like to buy a nice '99 boat that comes with a Evinrude 150 FICHT ('99 as well).<br />I have some doubts about the motor because some people told me that this model has a bad reputation.<br />On the other end the dealer told me he did not experience any problem with this motor and the previous owner. The only little problem was that the motor was recalled to fix a potential problem regarding the injectors.<br />What do you suggest me to do ? buy or not ?
<br /><br />The Ficht injected V6 engines made by OMC ('97 to 2001) have a well-earned terrible reputation.<br /><br />My Son-in-law (who always knows better than the old fart) had his blow up twice ('97 150) before he switched to a carbed Johnny 150 that has not skipped a beat in 5 years.<br /><br />I wouldn't take an OMC-made Ficht V6 engine as a gift.<br /><br />'Nuff said?<br /><br />Good luck.
