(1992 40hp evinrude) - what exactly is the function of a power pack and a stator.

Basically the charge coils in the stator build a charge and send it to the power pack which distributes it to the ignitions coils which send the charge to the spark plugs.

Pertaining to ignition, stators provide AC voltage to the powerpack capacitor to energize the pack. The powerpack distributes voltage to the ignition coils.<br /><br />The majority of the stators are a two fold component, meaning that an additional circuit is contained within them that provides AC voltage to a rectifier which converts the AC to DC voltage to charge the battery.
