hey I have a 25 evinrude 78' or so outboard and I dont feel safe driving it behind my 12 foot bateau. it goes two fast. I was wondering where I could hook the wires for a kill switch lanyard (in case i fall out). there is two wires going from my points to my coils, and there is a connection in the middle of the wires. Should I hook them up there? will it hurt my points or coils if the wires get touched together by accident. and lastly where did the original kill switch wires connect? Oh Does any one have a wiring diagram that they can email me? thanks for the help :)

aight well i pulle this old boat out the weeds a few days ago...and got it back up and running...never did get around to putting the kill switch on it.

once again i am askin for advice for puttin a kill switch on it.

I bought an attwood universal kill swich few days ago...and was wondering how to hook it up.

the motor is a 73 evinrude 25 tiller handle pull start.

there is reminants or the old kill switch from the factory but none of the wires are hooked up.

I think it hooked up to the wires coming from my points and going to my coils and when pushed it canceled them out..??? am i correct?

please please help me

there should be two wires coming from under the mag plate. If they are hooked together it ground the points out killing the motor. Hook one each to your kill switch or lanyard. If the switch if off or the lanyard is out then it will kill the motor.
