I have a 1969 starchief V with the 4 cylinder 120 hp in it. Can you tell me the timing, dwell, point and plug gap? and would the timing be different boating at 4000 - 5000 plus feet. I found a serial number on a plate, 2647628. the cast stamped numbers are 0915983, E 28, CON 2.

anything else that would help with a tune would be great too

thanks for all the help

timming no if the boat has been around your area and worked before then you need not to worry about but jets in the carb are sized acordingly to elevation so if its from a way lower elevation you need to change the jets in carb points can be set to the thickness of a match book cover which is about .020 and spec is .022 plug gap is .035 dwell is 28-34 degrees and timing is 6 degrees btdc whats going on that you need a tune up has it got a hesitaion hard start or just checking things out

The boat has been maintained its whole life in this area so the jets should be good. It has been hesitating and missing. I looked at the cap, rotor and plugs and they were not good. put new cap rotor and plugs in and it runs much better. But didn't have the specs for the plugs and points so this will be a great help. Thanks
