I finally tried my motor out over the weekend and everything went well other than the speed and the rpms. the boat ran at 38 mph and would tach at 6000+ . manual says only 53 to 5800 rpm. I have a 17" prop. I bought a 21" prop but have'nt had time to try it . do you think by doing this it will give me more speed and decrease the rpms?<br />thanks

Re: needle pegged on tach.

It should. Rule of thumb is for every inch increase in pitch you will lose 200 RPM's. Your hole shot will not be as good but you will increase your speed some but not much.
