During carb rebuild on my 74 50hp johnson I noticed the needle makes a little click when it comes off the seat. It reseats every time and passes the blow test. Is this a normal sound? I even put a drop of light weight oil on the seat but it still does it.

Re: Needle Valve Clicks

The click is likely from the spring steel holder pulling it onto the float tab. The needle should have a slight bit of resistance to unseating, as it is held in place by a bit of rubber.

Completely expected behavior. You are good to go.
