I just acquired a 19' Bayliner with a Force 125 and I cannot find the button, or lever, that releases the throttle from the gear shift so that I can advance the throttle without engaging the prop. Need some help here.

Welcome to iboats bayliner19. Congrats on the "new" boat.

When posting, please give us the model and year of your motor, or in this case, the make and model of the control unit.

On some controls, you pull/slide the shift lever to the left, on some there is a lever to lift, on others there is a button to push which allows the throttle to be moved forward without engaging the gears.

Morse control levers have, as roscoe says a button in the centre of the throttle pivot (looks like a cover for a rotating bolt), if you push this in the gears disengage when lifting the red lever and pushing the throttle forward.
You can check without starting the engine.

On the 2 Bayliners I've had, the fast idle is pulling the handle out ( towards the center of boat ), they were both Morse MN type controls, some times they will be stiff and hard to pull out

Re: Neutral fast idle

I want to thank all of you for solving my dilemma. This is a 1986 Bayliner Bow-rider with a 1986 Force 125 hp outboard and it has the Morse control that pulls out (which frankly is the first of that kind I have ever seen). I tried your suggestion and pulled out the control stick and the engine started up and ran like it was brand new. It spewed water out the cooling exit holes with gusto and I am looking forward to getting it out on the water very soon. :D
