I have got my braided line caught on many things before and when you know it cant come off i would pull it as hard as i could so maybe it would come up and if it did snap usually it would snap near the hook so there is less line in the water. I borrowed a mono lined pole and It got stuck on a boat ramp. I pulled to brake it (totally forgetting it might snap back like a rubberband) and it broke and gave me a slash 4 inches long on my leg. I now know not ever brake mono line always cut it instead

At least you only got your leg, got snagged last summer and held the reel and pulled to break like i usually did. Unfortunately I forgot that I had switched to 50# test brided from 20# mono the day before and wound up breaking my rod in two.

I'm sorry that you got hurt, but I've done it many time without getting hurt. My friend had his stuck once and he was trying to snap it, unfortunately it became loose and the sinker shot out of water straight into his crotch. I'm sure it was very painfull, but it was hilarous.

I was casting out and i had a sliding wieght and the weight flew off without us knowing and my friend was laying on a nearby hammock and it came down and hit him in the crouch

I wound up with 10 stiches in my hand pulling on mono. It sliced right into my hand like a razor blade.

normaly when trying to snap my line i turn my pole the same dirrection as the line hole the reel so the drag dosent slip and pull straight back. normaly works pretty good

It does not seem at all dangerous till you treat it wrong eh !!!!
And yes, I have treated it wrong as well.

Been there, done that, got to wear loose boxers for a couple days...

I don't yank on the pole so hard anymore... either one come to think of it...

Don't buy cheap line that stretches. Acts like a bungee cord. Also, the breaking strength becomes weakened after stretching. Get the low or no stretch kind.

NEVER, EVER try freeing hung up terminal fishing gear by wrapping one of the new extra strong lines (like "Spiderwire") around your hand. Do that in a boat on the ocean and the swells will lift the boat tighten it and guilliotine off one or more of your fingers and /or maybe pull you overboard. Dont even think about it guys its a no brainer...., that $2 weight just isnt worth it !

Thought it was common knowledge amongst anglers that wrapping any of the Superlines around your hand is nothing less than supreme stupidity. Its called "wire" for good reason, it dosent break easily either. 60lb test Spiderwire wrapped round your hand on a rolling boat could easily pull you overboard.

Try a bunch of the stuff wrapped around your prop then wave bye-bye to your seal .

My wife is from Thailand, loves to fish but has only been catfishing in her country.

Took her out last year and introduced her to bass fishing, tried to teach her how to use a baitcaster, gave up on that she prefers open face reels.

Got tired of constantly retrieving lures she would get hung up in the pads, trees, bushes and weeds using mono.

Re-spooled her reel with spider wire, now the only thing I do is duck when she gets hung up as she gives it what for and gets her lure back, I forgot to mention she has learned how to duck also, that wire is strong

I used mono for a long time and then my friend introduced me to the spider wire and i love it it is twice as strong and does not get brittle and break when it sits in the sun for a little while. You can also feel the fish when you have a bite way easier.
