I have a new 15 hp Mercury 4 stroke, and am getting near the end of the 10 hour break-in period. I was wondering if the oil should be changed soon ? The Owner's Manual is not clear on changing it at the end of break in; it only speaks of changing it every 100hours/once a season.
Thanks !

Won't hurt...

My plan for my new (2.2 hrs on it) 2.5 Merc is to change it at 10 hrs then yearly or 100 hr whichever is first.

I bought an hr meter and put it on before the first start up.

Thanks. I will run it a couple of more hours, and then change it.
One more related question--our local Wal Mart does not have Quicksilver 10w-30. They do have the 25w-40, and the Manual says that is OK above 40 degrees, so I can run that until the Fall, but can you run regular automotive oil just as well as the Quicksilver ? Not a big deal, really, but car oil is much cheaper.
Thanks again !
