Well at least its new to me. All original except I traded the 1983 75hp Chrysler for a 2005 yamaha 90 4 stroke. Boat runs really well, Icruise at about 26mph and opened all the way she'll hit 43mph with wife and kids, plus a full tank (22 gal ?). Had her out fishing last week and she sprank a couple of leaks while we were about 4miles out (ocean). Wife got quite nervous, but the auto bilge worked just fine. When I put her on the trailer we saw that two rivets under the motor near the plug had completely opened up ? So with some encouragement from GLG on this site (thanx) I reriveted about 20 rivets under the waterline.
other than that little mishap, all is well. Taking her down to the river for a little run this afternoon to check my handy work. I'm not all that interested in doing much modifications to this boat,( I just want to fish) however I do want to replace the double seat on the captains side with a pedestal and close the front storage in the bow and use hatches. I do love this little boat, its easly to tow with a Honda pilot and its also easy for one person to launch and load.

Nice boat! Real nice motor upgrade too. Make sure you overbuild your new bow deck if you're adding hatches. I didn't build mine strong enough and it cracked in two places. Going to have to rebuild it at some point using stronger ply and better reinforcement and support.

I would love to have a 90hp 4 stroke yamaha hanging off the back of my SS. The tower of power will have to do until then. Nice SS!

What was the final year for the 18' SS?

Welcome aboard, glad you got the rivets fixed. Not bad work compared to what the fiberglass rig require.:)

Your boat looks nice and already rigged up for fishing too. I see some nice rod holders on the bow.

Many of us would love to hang a newer Yamaha on the transom, great motors.:D
