Well just pulled the trigger!

It was time to upgrade from the 1970 Funtoon with a '93 Mariner 25hp. The funtoon has given us may good times on the lake, but it was time.

Local dealer had a hold over from 2008 (they were pretty desperate) They also had a 75 hp merc 4 stoke used one year with 13 hrs on it (Warranty til 2013). Seemed like the prefect pair for a good deal to me. It's still a lot of money, but was priced close to some used ones around.

22'
25" logs
8.5' beam
Changing pop up room
Seat bases are made of aluminum

Ordered a bunk style double axle trailer with brakes.

Pics to come after delivery.... hopefully in a week or so.

Still waiting on the trailer to be delivered to the dealer. They don't stock trailers for their pontoons. So they can't start rigging until the trailer arrives. Figures, it will be nice this weekend and the boat won't be ready yet. :(

Re: New 22' 2008 Tahoe Vista Elite

Finally took delivery last night. (After hours) They water tested for me. I've been working late, so I picked it up last night. Had kids softball game tonight at 6 but had to get it in the water. Got it in the water just before dark. Nothing like putting a new boat on the water for the first time in the dark. Man the 4 stroke in awesome, hit the key and it just starts, no messing around with the throttle or choke.

Loaded it back on the trailer under pole lights. Hit the bunks the first time!!!! Wasn't as hard as I thought! (I had a narrow trailer with my last pontoon).

Pics to come I promise, whenever I can do something in the daylight.

That is for sure. My old boat was a 22', but the new one seems twice as big for being the same size. I think the usable space on the old one was only like 15'.

I'm gonna have to re-prop though, WOT is too high. Need to check specs, but I'm sure 6,000 is WAY too many RPMS for a 4 stroke. I'll just have to watch what I do til I can change it. I'm not really sure what prop they put on it.

6000 is on the upper limit but is reasonable even for a 4-stroke. When you get her loaded, the R's will drop some.

Rated at 5500 for WOT. Have to wait til I start pulling the kiddos on the tube to see how it acts before I make a decision on the prop.

Here are some pics. Sorry not very good quality, they are from my phone. But you get the point.

The 2nd pic where you see the trees in the background- the lake is just behind the trees.

The last pic is from Memorial day weekend, we pulled up at the beach at dusk. Later that night the moon was out, it was a great night to be on the lake. Something about being out after dark is soothing to me.

It will fit in the garage, but barely. I have to move the canopy. If the canopy rests on the sundeck it is too high to fit. :(

Re: New 22' 2008 Tahoe Vista Elite

Here is a pic where it is backed into the garage. I have a 30x56 pole barn that the front part is 24x30, then has a divider wall in the middle and the back 30x32 is my shop area. As you can see it takes up a lot of space. And barely fits height wise. I think I'm gonna add a lean to off the side of the garage to house the boat full time, but not sure yet.

Recommended RPM range for your motor is 5000-6000. Prop it to hit close to 6000 with a light load or you'll be lugging it when you get some weight (people) in the boat . I have the 90 HP 4 stroke model with the same specs and I run right at 5900 with just me on board. That's a nice lookin' toon and should give you years of fun!!

Maybe I am propped correctly (WOT light load is around 6k). I just haven't had a big load yet or pulled any tubers.
