Was your older engine a non vortec or older two piece RMS?

I think this would probably work but you may want to call mich motorz to make sure

I have a similar jackalope engine with out a serial number as I took out a 4.3 and put in a 5.0 using a partial engine package from michigan motorz, reused all the accessories off the 4.3. I use parts listings for the 5.0 carb Alpha engines with the same serial number range as my donor engine as that is what I dressed the base engine with

Id call them they were not really good responding to emails in my experience until I spoke with some one about the replacement engine, yes frustrating from a customer perspective...

You will be getting a nice increase in power probably have to go up in pitch on the prop assuming it was propped correctly prior.

If the oil pans are the same then your old parts should fit….if both engines are Vortecs the outside deminsions & other parts are pretty much the same however GM did some odd things like mixing SAE & metric fasteners on the same engine!

when i purchased new vortec ,they had mentioned that all externals should match up ,motor that was pulled is non vortec ,also should there be a ring gasket where dipstick tube enters pan, i know the bolt plays alot in keeping the tube secure and down in pan, but just seemed like oil would seep through the hole and the dipstick tube

If original motor had 1 piece rear main seal, old oil pan should fit just fine. 1985 was when these came out. Maybe a year or two later. 1988 should be a match
