Just got the boat this weekend and am going to convert it to a hunting/fishing rig....The seam down the middle of the hull seams to need some sealant. The rest of the boat is in good shape outside of replacing some decking and carpet...
What would you recommend...it looks like a little silicone is in there now.

Is there a crack? Is this a welded or riveted hull?

The bottom of the boat is rivited but it has that seam running down the middle that looks as though it needs some waterproofing

granted, I have not had the boat in the water but from just a visual check , it looks as though a selant might be needed

Re: new 87 bass tracker

Whats the consistency of that stuff like? Thick enough to push in gaps?
Is it really as good as it sounds?

Thanks

It is as good as it sounds. Many of us doing aluminum boat project use it as a first step on all our rivets to fix and prevent leaks. It is not thick. That way it flows into and seals leaks. Kinda like a thick varnish type consistency.

Dawg:

Is this really a seam, or just a rib for stiffening? I would get it in the water and see if it really is a leak or not.

on either side of that rib, where it connects to the hull there are a few dents and dings that have created a little space between the rib and the hull
