I am a new owner of a 1980 Aristocraft 9-teen, HIN # ATL87610M80C, new member here, and not to mention a new owner to a boat. LOL. I understand this boats production was ended in 1980. I saw someone post that there 1979 was the 45th to the last boat made, and wondered how I could find out how many were made in 1980, and how close to the end of the run mine is.
I stumbled onto this boat on Craigslist. I wasn't real big on it until I went and looked at it. The boat fired right up, and everything appeared to be in working order, that is until we put it on the lake. It idled out of our canal fine, but when we went to trim down, it wouldn't, so we figured we would putt around the lake on this trip, and get the trim fixed before we go out again. Well, then it wanted to stall, and didn't want to start back up for us.
So now we are at the point the trim won't go down, and the boat will fire (usually with the aid of starting fluid) but not stay running. The boat goes to the shop tomorrow to get fixed, unless someone on here might be able to help. I know there are other forums for these problems, and I will be there next, but I figured other Aristocraft owners might have had similar problems.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: New 9-teen owner

welcome 1980 9-Teen. congrats on your new to you cool boat...

contact AristoCraft.. http://www.aristocraftboats.com/contact.html Scott or Bill will be able to help you out i would bet.. if ya havn't looked over the AristoCraft web site, be sure to do so. there's some real cool pics in the brochures section.

as for your issues. they're gonna pop up. old boats usually need help getting back into service. one thing yer for sure gonna need is the oem service manual. if ya got a mercruiser, you'll need s/m #3 and #4. one is the drive, one is the engine. these are absolute must have tools if yer gonna work on your rig. if ya got omc. you'll still need one.
ya might go here too. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=288430 check out #5 and 6. many of the items listed there are part of reg. service for a boat. since the boat is new to you, this can be a starting point so you can check things out to see where you stand. imho, do a compression test for sure. lets you know what ya got to work with.

service manuals have trouble shooting guides for trim issues. could be as simple as you need to clean off the contacts. could be something else too. your right about the other forums. there's plenty of folks willing to help out there with mechanical problems. lots of great minds even. many have better skills than me and have helped me stay on the water + saved me thousands in repair bills.

so what engine/drive package did your get?
what color?
got pics? there's a post a pic or your Aristocraft thread going. it needs more pics of Aristocrafts...;);) you should post some pics of yours.. post em here, post em there. we just like to see pics... well, i like to see pics. i just think others do too...

congrats again. hope you get as much enjoyment from your AristoCraft as i have mine... there very top notch boats imho..

Nice looking Nineteen. If you want to part with your rag top let me know. I have the framework but no top.

i'm pretty sure they did. might have been an option which way ya wanted to go, soft top, hard top or nothing. there was a 1980 nineteen around here a year or two ago. it had an omc drive. it had a hard top... think it's up for sale now too, though i've not seen in listed since last fall/winter. i did score some water skis from a cat the other day though. delivered and free. he was friends with that nineteen owner. told me it (the nineteen) was still looking for a new home due to divorce..

Thanks guy's, and sorry the rag top is staying put. I would like to find a hard top for that option also.
