jighead, You should be able to contact a local dealer and obtain a list of the technical service bullitens for that particular motor. That may give you a better decission ground to go on as to whether you will keep , sell, or trade in.At least if you decide to keep you can possibly alieviate some of the technical flaws before they lead to serious problems.
The horsepower of motor will be helpful to the forum members that may be able to provide you with some specifics.

Hello Jighead!!
Did you get a warranty with that motor? Maybe that motor after having all the upgrades will be ok.,maybe not.
I like you didn't do any research when i bought a 2000 225 Ficht. After blowing two powerheads and Bombardierfooting the bill for the third powerhead and no more warranty I decided to upgrade to a2003 with a 3year warranty.Had no problem trading the motor to a omc dealer
If you have bad feelings about the motor you should see if they will refund your money from where you bought it. Check your State consumer laws.

The 1999 is still a OMC and Bombardier will not touch them under any warranty. A large dealer here received a "new" motor for there rental fleet, the creat was marked 2002 but when they opened it the motor was a 1999 150 Rude. The service manager called Bombardier about the motor and they said to him they would take it back if the creat was not opened and exchange it but once opened it could not be returned and was not covered under any warranty.

Is Bomb still playing around...this is not good for their reputation trying to lay these motors off on the unsupecting without full disclosure. Jighead, you obviously didn't know the 'story' going in? :( I'd be quite sure the dealer knew...Bomb can't afford this kind of deception! Is this happening across the country; to get rid of old inventory? Now, if you were told the deal, that's a different story. Any other stories out there? ;)

Re: New 99 Ficht, ADVICE NEEDED!

When I purchased the motor I was told that it had no warranty, but I could buy an extended warranty through another company. Well what they forgot to tell me was you cannot buy an extended warranty with out at least three months remaining on the factory warranty.NO FACTORY, NO WARRANTY!!! I contacted the dealer about exchanging for a carborated model, was told that the model was a closeout and that I could not exchange. If I would have been told about all the problems with this motor, I would have stayed clear. I hope someone can learn from this.

I read an article where Bombardier wasn't warranting anything under the year 2000 back in June. The dealer that you bought it from had to know that and that is why they said no warranty. Most companies give 1 year warranties on new older motors still in the crate.
I too was also told that I could purchase an extented warranty, but got the same response that you did.
If they told you that you could get the extended warranty, then they lied. You should have some recourse aganist the dealer not Bombardier.Call your States Att.Generals office and see what your rights are. Put all correspondence with that dealer in writing.
In massachusetts we have an organization called "Call For Action" it helps consumers with consumer issues maybe you have something like that in your State.
