Took my 07 5.0L Mercruiser with Alpha 1 drive in for a 200hr. service. I wasn't having any problems but picked up my boat and it had a brand new Alpha 1 drive on it.
It was being serviced at a premier Mercruiser shop and I was told there was a shaft problem and Mercury decided to replace it,my extended warranty paid the entire new drive portion of the bill. After my first trip out which lasted two days, I flushed the engine at the ramp. The water comming out the starbord side of the drive sprays what I always thought was normal. The port side of the drive actually flows a much heavier stream. Both exhust manifolds felt like the same temperature. Question is, does this seem normal. I never noticed a difference in flow on the old drive. Is there a date code in the serial # ?
Thanks.
