Took my 07 5.0L Mercruiser with Alpha 1 drive in for a 200hr. service. I wasn't having any problems but picked up my boat and it had a brand new Alpha 1 drive on it. It was being serviced at a premier Mercruiser shop and I was told there was a shaft problem and Mercury decided to replace it,my extended warranty paid the entire new drive portion of the bill. After my first trip out which lasted two days, I flushed the engine at the ramp. The water comming out the starbord side of the drive sprays what I always thought was normal. The port side of the drive actually flows a much heavier stream. Both exhust manifolds felt like the same temperature. Question is, does this seem normal. I never noticed a difference in flow on the old drive. Is there a date code in the serial # ?
Thanks.

This is quite normal. If both manifolds feel the same, it is just the way the water is being discharged. No date code in the ser. number. Hope the info helps.

Larry, get a cen-tech infrared thermometer, harber freight sells them for 59.95, I found them on ebay for 29.50 and 5.00 shipping. I have two boats that I haven't fired this year yet, but I used it on cars and it is well worth the money, it has two settings with one that fires a laser beam. The lazer beam works great on places you can't get to touch. Buz
