Hello, from mid-georgia. I bought/got my first boat today. Its a 1986 Bayliner Capri with 85 Force engine. I got it for free, becuz my brother-n-law is moving to mexico (job tranfer dont ask) and needed to get off his hands. I got in it and the floor in the front is rodded bad. Like I step there and my foot went through the floor. So after reading a few post looks like a common thing. So looking foward to this.

Please tell me what I need to do to get to boat safe and realible to ride. I have never seen the boat uncovered till today. So it alwayz been covered but what about engine maint and everything else. I been with my wife 3 years. And I never seen it in the water nor uncovered. So Im sure maintance is lacking

Re: New and Question about 1986 Bayliner Capri

Welcome to the zoo!!!
O.K. - new boat owner, let's just start with the basics.
Get the motor running first. Buy an OEM manual, no Clymer, no Seloc.
You will need - impeller, fresh gas with appropriate oil mix, new plugs, new battery. Lots of others along the way but this should get it fired - hopefully.
A set of water muffs too.
Once you get her purring then you should tackle the boats infrastructure.
You will find in the search function a wealth of information about anything you need to get your repairs done. But please don't be shy about posting them. I would suggest that you make additional posts to the restoration and building section. You'll get a lot more reader's there then in this Bayliner specific site.
Anyhow, good luck and have fun with your project.

Ok, I will do. First manual then the basic tune-up. I shall take some pics and post it in the restore section

Which model Capri? Cuddy or bow rider? What length?

There are lots of restoration projects on shareaproject.com you should browse, especially look at one called "Project Long Haul" by an old iboats member "Realgun". Its a capri restoration that is well detailed and photographed.
