so after a day out, we came home to find the ground terminal completely fried off of the battery. Also the previous owner had a standard car battery hooked up to it.(silly him and shame on me for not looking.) Anyway I'm going to be buying new terminals and a new marine battery. Any specific specs I should look at for this motor?

P.s. thank God we didn't run into this problem on the water, lucky day for sure!

I suggest you find whatever is causing the high resistance that caused the terminal to melt 1st. Could be as simple as new battery cables.

Just get a flooded lead acid battery 650cca would be fine. Use a nut to secure cables.. wing nuts are hockey fans,, nut and wrenches are for batteries.
