I just installed a replacement perko battery switch, thought the old was bad. After reinstalling making sure the banks were in working order, check battery 1, no power from switch, #2 pos. battery makes connections (battery 2 is non starting battery) in the All pos. same connection good, which I am sure it all on batt 2. check to make sure batt was fully charged, getting a reading of 12.6 on volt meter, same on batt 2.

I am thinking it's a bad ground or possible bad positive connection. I ran jumper from from positiive to switch and ground to engine bolt still no juice to ingition. after checking lead I have some corrosion on battery lead (hot) on the switch side only. check with meter and got a reading 12.6 same the battery

After deciding the cable was bad tried running a jumper and still rec'd same no power from switch to ingition. tried my back up battery (spare) fully charged still nothing.
could there be a fuse or circuit breaker or something else that I missed.
seem that battery 2 is working and sending power to ingition. still confused on why battery 1 isn't sending:confused:

Moving this over to the Electrics, Electronics and Trolling Motors (not engine) forum.

You will get a good reading (12.6) even through a resistive connection with nothing happening. Ohm's law applies when there's current being drawn, as to a starter or even just the ignition and blower. Take voltmeter readings when trying to start and you'll find the bad connections.
Remove the + clamp from the battery, is there a hard black film on the post? That's resistance. Any white or green residue on any exposed wiring? Resistance.

What kind of engine you trying to start there, achilles? Have you got any power at all to the keyswitch - does the electric choke work? Most outboards have a 20-amp inline fuse on the 12V line between battery and keyswitch, usually located port side of the powerhead.
