Re: New Bench

Hey zach!

Well, that's a good start! Tools to me, are a lifetime of accumulation. Pay as you go kind of thing. You start with the basics, a socket set, box or combo wrenches, screwdrivers, a vise grip or two. Channel locks, the hammer / chisel, the utility knife.

And then, it just grows and grows and grows.....

I've spent 18 years collecting, using, and replacing tools. It never ends. Most projects I do I end up buying a tool, although that happens a lot less than it used to!

Some things I've bought I hardly ever use, but everything stays, because "someday" I'll use it again. I did sell a Hitachi cap nailer, it's an air powered gun that shoots a nail through a plastic washer "cap" for nailing roofing felt, or foam sheathing, ect. I used it one summer on a huge roof job, and then it sat and sat and sat....

A guy asked about it, and I said: "yeah, I have one, never use it anymore." and he wanted to buy it. So, I sold it to him, for half of what I bought it for.

The very next year, I land another series of roofing jobs, (that I didn't want, bid huge fat and got it anyway) so I ended up BUYING ANOTHER ONE! LOL!

So it goes....

Buy the tools you need, as you need them, and always buy the very best you can afford. It'll stay in the stable, and serve you 'till your dead! :)
