I am deciding on whether to get a 2005/2006 crestliner sportfish 1950 with an evinrude E-TEC 175/200 and need advice from someone who knows how this boat runs. Does weather get to you in it? I live in montana where weather changes instantly and need a boat that i'm able fish in deep lakes (fort peck/houser lake/holter lake/canjon ferry) as well as rivers (missouri and others) with possible nasty weather. How does this boat do in these situations?

The ones I have seen are open boats, they seem to run fast. I would think if weather were a concern, you would at least want a walkaround.

Nice package. Should do as well as any other popular aluminum rig. Here is another thread on the aluminum choices - Rivets vs. Welds

When the sky dumps on you a pilothouse type would be ideal. Or at least a boat with a hardtop. However these are found only on coastal boats. So you would likely have to drag one over from the Great Lakes or Washington State.

Kelly Cook

I was thinking of a walkaround, but want more of a boat that I am able to setup with fishing seats, the walkarounds that I have seen around Great Falls and other areas around here seem to be mostly for bay type fishing. The 1950 that I am contemplating on has a full shield that can be put up and is tall enough for me (6 ' 3") to walk around in. I am not sure how sturdy this canopy would be in some wind, but I guess there are plenty of coves to find around here. Thanks for the info and tips.
