Re: New Boat Owner Any Tricks Or Good Advice For Me
My first response was "sell it while you still have money in your pocket". But, that wouldn't be any fun.
Do you have the maintenance log and records? Make sure you go over the whole list and what is "unknown" get it done.
Do you have boating experience? Get a medium size inflatable ball (anchor ball) attach it to a light anchor with enough line and a little slack to reach the bottom. Go to an area not too far offshore and out of other boaters way and play with the boat. Maneuver up to and around the ball forward and backwards. Get real comfortable with how the boat responds to your inputs and what inputs are needed to get the boat to do what you want. (Oh by the way... do this on a calm clear day, without distractions) and then have fun.
Go slow until know the water. Underwater obstacles are rarely marked and do a lot of damage. The boat has no brakes, pulling back on the steering wheel doesn't really help. Be constantly aware of other boaters not aware of you! Know how to trim the boat and when and what conditions require bow up and bow down and bow just right.
Oh, did I mention selling it while you can still afford to? Only kidding have fun and be very safe.
