Hey guys! Your forum has been super helpful in my seemingly endless search for a worthwhile bow rider under $4k. I'm up in Massachusetts, so many used boats are GARBAGE HEAPS! It seems no one stores, cleans, or maintains their boats properly up here. I just bought a 1997 Sunbird Spirit 170 with a gm 3.0 and Volvo penta sx out drive. It is a one owner, traded at original dealer last sept for a 17' stingray. It was always serviced at stored at dealer, never kept in the water, and only has 760 hours. No cracks in vinyl, no blisters or spiders, original bow and cockpit covers, original trailer, original Bimini top. This guy even saved every fuel receipt for 16 years! Anyway, I printed the questions for used boat inspections sticky and used it as I combed thru literally every boat that fit my needs in the north east. Without that I would have made a mistake for sure! Dealer is keeping boat in storage till spring. Then we will take to local lake (myself and dealership owner) and beat it up a bit. If I'm not thrilled, I get my money back...sweet deal. So here's my question, what do you guys think I should do to her when the weather breaks? Any mod you think would improve this boats intended function? My other boat is an ancient 10 foot john with a trolling motor...so never did much there.
