Ok, its finally gonna happen (i swear this time ) Im gonna buy a new boat. After looking at Wellcraft coastals, Pro-Lines, Albermarles, Chris Crafts, Tritions, and Seaswirls for almost 3 yrs, Ive decided to go with an interesting, hybrid type boat that I came across, The Sea Ray Amberjack 290. Its a capable sport fish boat with the fishing amenities of a Wellcraft coastal but also with the cabin and cruising amenities of a sundancer.
One more option. I got it down between two different Amberjacks. #1 is a 2007 with V-Drives.(105k) #2 is a 2008 with BravoIII sterndrives(115k). (Both have 350's), and all the other features are irrelevant besides the engines.
What to do? And what does everybody think about Amberjacks?

Re: New Boat ....Sea Ray Amberjack.

I think they are a pretty interesting boat. I've never been on one, so I can't tell you anything about the ride or fishing ability. We looked into the Amberjack, Proline Express, and the Coastal as a good compromise. I wanted a Tiara, she wanted a cruiser. We wound up with a 29' Cobalt...couldn't pass up the deal.

When I was looking my mechanic suggested I steer clear of v drives. I'm not sure if that was just his preference/experience, but at the end of the day it didn't really matter as the Cobalt came with twin Volvo DPs.

Good luck and post picks of the new boat!

Tiara's are awesome but a bit out of my price range. I looked at a 2009 3200 open last year and fell in love but the wallet didnt agree!!

amberjacks are a real popular model that if kept i reasonable well will hold there value

i dont think you would be unhappy with either drive combo

if your looking for a salt water-brackish water the v-drive would be the one to get
