Hi all New to the forum. I have a 1983 Trophy Bass boat with a 1984 Force 85. Every single mucky muck in 37 years with electrical tape has messed with the wiring on this boat. What is the normal Trim and Tilt function and how is it "supposed" to work? Currently there is a switch on the dash for up and down only which after rewiring does tilt the engine fully up and then back down. But I see a trim ram on the motor which doesnt do anything and probably wouldnt as there are only 3 wires going to the pump. Thx in advance and if this has been discussed please direct me to the proper post.

yes, with the same switch;
up to down mode- tilt-cylinder/shock first & then tilt-ram retracts
down to up mode- tilt ram extents first & then tilt-cylinder/shock

You loosen the front line and operate the motor up and down.
Then you loosen the 4 screws holding the pump in place.
That will drop down and all the oil leaks out.

Fill when down. Then cycle up and down, then add more oil until the unit goes up.
Don't add oil when the drives up.
If it's overfull and you drop it, you can force oil up inside the electric motor.
30w oil.
