Re: New Boat

You may have a hard time getting the answer you are looking for. I to have been asking this question. Let me first say I am not a painter. Also, I am no expert to this forum, only posted here a couple times so far, but this is a great forum, keep searching in the archives and you will find your answer. I found my answer just tonight in a post titled " I painted my boat today". This person and I were in the same boat, no pun intended. We had an older boat that didn't stay in the water long and was always on the trailer, some paint could only help the appearance. His turned out great. I will try the same method. If your boat stays in the water most or all of the time this application probably wouldn't work for you. Keep searching, you'll find the answer you are looking for.

Not sure I understand what you are asking? What is the cover and what is the top? Can you post pics?

Yes, you can paint over gelcoat. Not a difficult project.

Good luck.

Check out "oop's" thread on hull extension. Everything you probably want to know and more is in that thread that includes gelcoat and painting.

Re: New Boat

what is the best way to paint the boat i have been reading that gel coat is way to hard... I am looking for a dark blue color that would be easy to apply... I currently have yellow looks alright just not a big fan...Any other way that wouldn't cost too much and would last the boat would be covered at all times unless being used or worked on.. Thank You..
