Hello,<br />I have a mercruiser 4.3 lx and it starts just fine but after a while of running it wont start. It seems as though it is flooded but after it starts and runs it then wont start again once we stop. Someone had said it could be vaopr lock and since it has been warm this summer, and i have been lifting the engine cover and sometimes that has worked? Any thoughts?

I have had the same issue before. If you sit for a while and it 'cools' somewhat and then restarts, check for weak or no spark when it won't start. if that is the case, the ign coil may be the culprit. A place to start anyhow...

Re: new boater and need help

I think I had this problem this weekend. I have an 86 bayliner with 2.3L volvo AQ131A. I was running it all day with no trouble and right before we started to head back it sputtered and quit, and would not start. I have not tried to start it since, but plan on it tonight. Did anyone experience a gas drip from the carbeurator in any of these situations? and the heavy smell of gas in the engine compartment?
