i own a 1987 starcraft medalist, 19ft. bow rider. i've had it for 10 years. the hull is in great shape, & has all the original hardware, i haven't had to replace anything. as far as mechanicals go, it has the cobra drive & except for a gimbal bearing, shift cable adj. & some new seals it has held up well. i don't know what year your looking at but watch out for floor rot in mid to late 80's. i had to do mine, but that was partly do to my own neglect, not covered well in winter. would i buy another starcraft? absolutely.

take it for a test run.make sure it shifts ok, no binding or hard shifting. check the oil after you've run it, make sure it's not milky looking, which could mean water in oil. $$$$! look for the same in drive oil. if you're not sure what to look for take it to a boat mechanic & have him check it out. if it's your ist boat, u don't want a project. let's us know what u find.

They are a well-built boat I have a 15' 1965 Starcraft / 40 hp 1966 Evenrude. Older fiberglass check as the wood in it could have rote, as the resin did not penetrates into wood with earlier boats. If it has foam in it check to make sure is not water logged I have a aluminum boat which I’m reworking now.<br />Good luck to You.
