Re: new boater

I am a new boater as well, so i can't provide any technical help, but as far as a operations manual, I was able to get one from the Mercury website. Go into the literature/manuals section for outboards and give them the serial number of your engine, and address, etc. and you can buy one from them.

Kathy, The behavor of the motor described is usually due to dirty carbs or misadjusted idle mixture. If the motor sat for some time with gas in the carbs, the carbs are likely gummed up. Hopefully you can clean them up yourself, since a lot of shops willl not work on those old motors.
