As I've said before, I have had 3 boats prior, but not for very long each time - less than a year for two used boats, and about 2 years for the single new boat.

I haven't done much of anything in the way of maintenance, and now we have a 1988 Imperial 230 CC with a GM 350cid/5.7L that pretty much sat for the last 3 years.

So I keep reading advice on here about replacing the impeller, and either greasing the prop shaft or changing/relubing the outdrive lower... I think that's right. :D

I have looked all over the forum, and while I'm sure there are procedures well documented on each of these subjects, I sure can't find them.

We've already drained the old gas, changed the water separator, and I'm currently bludgeoning the oil filter off in hopes of putting new oil in the engine.

Also, the outdrive says VOLVO 275 on it. Does that mean I should be using the 270 manual?? I didn't see one for 275.

Thanks again for all the help- I spend several hours a day just reading and soaking up information as much as I can.

The Volvo-Penta website can give you info based on the engine serial number, if you have it.

I did a general search based on gas engine, sterndrive, 86-89 year range, guessed at HP and it listed many v-8 engine packages.

One of them was a 275 HP 350 cubic inch engine package for 1986-1989. It states that it is the AQ271C engine package.

I have never owned a VP product and I don't know much about their model #'s. I am not sure if that is what you have or not.

I would suggest trying out your serial number in there online feature, or maybe do the same general search I did (you probably have better info on engine specs)

Thanks, I bookmarked the site. I'll check the serial number when I get home today.
