Hard to say. I have the curve and it was easy to use but learning everything is tough. There is soo much on them. When I first got mine it didn't have the video camera on it and had to download that. Just every so often go to Blackberry.com and down load the new updates. I don't know if you have the 2 years that you have to keep it before an upgrade, but that is the way they do it here. I think that is the biggest pain in the butt. I haven't had mine a year yet and l already would like to upgrade to the touch>>>

Wife and I just got the T-Mobile G1's. I was strongly considering the Curve or the 8900(?), but liked the touchscreen of the G1. Learning curves can be a pain, but just think of it as a computer. Took me about 2 days to get used to most of it, and still learning all the apps that are available. With the open source, there are thousands of programs available, so my learning curve will probably be forever.

Re: New Cell phone, ............grrrrr

I down loaded a bunch of ring tones a while ago from myxer.com

It was free with the "2" year agreement.

We have Alltel, and have been bought out by Verizon. They take over in Aug., I think it is. Hope it goes as smooth as Alltel has. I had Verizon one time before and it was kinda wishy washy.

Like the phone, like I said, just alot to learn, AND that joke of a pouch/case they sent  with it SUX !!!!!!!!!

make sure your closing out your programs and not just hitting the back button. If you don't your programs will remain running in the back round and use up memory/slow the phone down. I think this alone is the hardest thing for a new BB user to remember, or get used to.

BB's are great tho. Infact i'm typing this on mine now while watching tv. These damn forums are so addictive!

Also if you want to browse the internet and do things like read these forums, the browser on the phone works ok but won't render pages very well. You should invest in OperaMini. Just do a search from your phones browser, the program is free and very stable. O yea one last last thing, www.Crackberry.com is your new best friend.

I still rely on the
YELL PHONE !!!!

If you can't hear me when I yell, well, you're just too far away and I'll get in touch with you later.

Re: New Cell phone, ............grrrrr

I get the hand me down phones from my boss. His last one had all the bells an whistles on it. I tried for 4 days on using it. Buttons too small, awkward size, and too hard to hang on to with greasy mitts.

It is amusing that I see large screens on laptops and desktops which makes it so much easier on the ole eyeballs. There is no way I want to use a teeny tiny screen for me to do online work, my eye sight is not great and I don't want to strain it anymore than is needed.

One of my service techy friends has one of the touch screens. He said if he was a suit an tie type of guy it would be okay. However being dirty, greasy, and grimy from his job, the phone is hard to use. He has broken the screen twice already in the last 6 months. He also told me he prefers using his laptop vs the online features of the phone. He too also likes to see what is on the screen without having to strain his eyes.

I personally feel that these phones are more of a gadget that people must have to keep up with the Jones syndrome.

Driving and talking on the phone is a distraction, texting is even a bigger distraction, and now I'm sure some maybe browsing the internet while driving.

typing..the key is to just type away do NOT look at what you are typing 99.9% of the time the auto correct will pick the correct word for you.

just type let it fix it, that takes some mental time to get used to.

i have an iphone...it took about a month to get used to it, i came from a blackberry.

i have a case and screen protector for the iphone so no scratches and no cracked screens.

Get glasses that helps with the eye strain.

The ball is key to a blackberry that is your mouse and clicker in one versus the arrow pad versus the touch screen.

I use mine constantly, watch movies, podcasts, directions, have read 3 books, simple games, surf the web.

its a great time killer

still use the laptop for real work.
